CABLE CUTTING TIP Cable up to 1/2" diagram can be easily and cleanly cut with a sharp axe and a hammer. Use very light blows with the hammer. Very light taps will cut a wolf snare cleanly. If you hit too hard you dull the axe. Place axe on ground, bit up and lay cable across bit and tap with hammer.
Marty Senneker "Alberta Powershare Triggers" are available from Halford's page 73 in their cataloque. Or from Paul Trepus. Paul also has a great video for sale using the Marty Senneker Triggers. It is well worth purchasing. His email address is inzana@telus.net
Our trapper friends from se of us droped in for a visit and to give us sparkplugs for the generator. It was a great time.
Bryan stopped his skidoo and turned and gave Vikki the thumbs up!!!!!
As you can see from the area this wolf did not struggle long. It was over in minutes. The snare cuts off their air supply and they just pass out.

It is plus 4 C and this Wolf was caught last night. So to stop the stomach acid from tainting the hide I opened up the cavity and stuffed it with snow. I will skin it first thing tomorrow.
Tom... those water makes on the right corner of the line cabin are not condensation. That was a full flood of water. Last February when Henri and I arrived at this line cabin, we started a big fire in the wood stove and went and did some trail. When we got back that night there was a flood happening in the cabin.
There was deep snow on the cabin roof. The quick heat made the melting snow back up from the eves like an ice damn. This cabin's roof is 2"x 6 " with full insulation. If it was being used more often 2 x 10's with 6 " insulation... allowing a air space between insulation and roof would be better. Also have some screen ventilation.

I always collect the Marten feet for Scent Bobs when I am skinning the animal. I cut off the sharp claws so they do not puncture the bag or me, use a punch to make a hole for the cut wire.
Use vise grips to twist the wire closed, and needle nosed pliers to make a hanging hook.
These Scent Bobs hold the lure, are easy to get lure on without it going all over your gloves or fingers and are reusable.
